Viva Aerobus strengthens connectivity in the state of Yucatan with the start of operations on the Merida (MID) – Camaguey (CMW) route and the launch of two domestic services in December. The low-cost carrier will offer two international connections at Manuel Crescencio Rejón Airport (MID).
On October 6, flight VB 884 was operated on an Airbus A320neo registered with registration XA-VIH, which took off from Mérida Airport (MID) at 16:26 local time and landed at Ignacio Agramonte International Airport (CMW) at 19:06.
«The increase in Viva’s offer in the state occurs a few weeks after the airline announced its sixth operational base in Merida, that is, an airport where some aircraft stay overnight and an entity where crews reside, resulting in more agile operations and an increase in flights and routes,» said Michelle Fridman, Yucatan’s Secretary of Tourism Development.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, as of December, Viva Aerobus will offer 30,748 weekly seats in 146 operations. It will be the second largest air operator at Manuel Crescencio Rejon Airport (MID).
The low-cost airline continues to strengthen connectivity from Mérida (MID), on September 23 it inaugurated its daily flights to Toluca (TLC) and from December it will add new services to León/Guanajuato (BJX) and Querétaro (QRO).

Viva Aerobus has 15 years of uninterrupted operation in Merida (MID) and for the 2022/2023 northern winter season will provide non-stop service to the following destinations: Leon/Guanajuato (BJX). Camagüey (CMW), Guadalajara (GDL), Havana (HAV), Mexico City (MEX), Monterrey (MTY), Querétaro (QRO), Tuxtla Gutierrez (TGZ), Toluca (TLC), Veracruz (VER) and Villahermosa (VSA).
According to data compiled by Aviacionline through ASUR statistics, 2,138,112 passengers were mobilized at Manuel Crescencio Rejón Airport (MID) between January – September this year, this represents an increase of 51.5% compared to the same period in 2021.
