It was revealed during the D&D Direct that the next module for Neverwinter will be Dragonslayer, which will let players hunt mighty dragons.
The next Neverwinter expansion will pit players against some of the most powerful monsters in the history of Dungeons & Dragons, as the Dragonslayer module for the game will include battles against mighty chromatic dragons, along with their wicked goddess, Tiamat. The Dragonslayer module was first revealed during the D&D Direct showcase, along with new D&D books.
Following the events of the Dragonbone Vale module, Valindra Shadowmantle was chased out of the Sword Coast. She managed to cast a flawed version of the Scaleblight Mythal before she left, awakening the phenomenon of dragonsight in dragons across Faerun. In D&D, dragonsight is a power that lets dragons become aware of their other version that exists across the multiverse. The dragons that had dragonsight forced upon them had their motivations twisted and it drove them into a rage. It’s up to the players to join the dragonslayers of the Sword Coast and stop the dragons in their tracks. A D&D book called Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons fleshed out dragonsight, for players who want to use it in their games.
It was announced during the D&D Direct that the battle against the dragons in Neverwinter will take place in the Dragonslayer module, which will launch in June. The trailer for the module can be seen on the official Neverwinter Game YouTube channel or viewed below. The dragons in Neverwinter will be revamped in this update, making them more powerful than before, with new attacks, spells, and the ability to fly.
The Dragonslayer module will introduce a brand-new Dragon Hunt system, with new battles, lairs, challenges, and rewards. Adventurers that are brave enough will be able to take on all varieties of chromatic dragons, including ones of different ages, ranging from Young, Adult, and Ancient. The Dragonlslayer module was inspired by Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons’ strongest monsters, giving D&D‘s dragons a chance to shine in Neverwinter, including Fizban’s oldest foe. Players will get a chance to take on the goddess of chromatic dragons herself, as the “Temple of Tiamat” trial is receiving a major content update that pits players against Tiamat. Dragonslayer will give players the chance to join Smeriduk Dragonbone’s mighty dragonslayers, and take on the beasts in their own lair.
Dragons are some of the most feared monsters in D&D, yet many players just see them as a collection of numbers. It’s up to the DM to show them just how terrifying a dragon can be, with smart tactics and an advantageous environment. Players should earn every gold piece they collect from a dragon’s hoard, which is why it’s so exciting that the Dragonslayer module in Neverwinter will give dragons their due. Neverwinter continues to evolve as an MMORPG, and beefing up the dragons is a great way to bring it closer to the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop RPG.
The Dragonslayer module for Neverwinter will be released in June.
