With the NBL season over and the championship trophy firmly in the grasp of the Sydney Kings, all eyes now turn to free agency and figuring out how different these teams will look by the time the next season rolls around.

December 11 – The Brisbane Bullets sign import Andrew White III for the remainder of the season, filling the spot left vacant by Devondrick Walker. White most recently played for Turkish team Buyukcekmece, averaging 7.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game.
November 25 – The Brisbane Bullets have released coach James Duncan, with GM Sam Mackinnon filling the role as interim head coach.
November 21 – The Illawarra Hawks sign import Michael Frazier III, replacing former import George King. Frazier returns to the NBL after a stint with the Perth Wildcats, where he averaged 7.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
November 15 – Melbourne United have signed Marcus Lee, replacing Jordan Caroline who has been released by the team.
November 8 – The Adelaide 36ers release Craig Randall III, citing disciplinary issues. Nick Marshall was elevated as the team looks for a replacement.
October 17 – The Illawarra Hawks have signed former New Zealand Breaker Peyton Siva, to replace import Justin Robinson who has been sidelined for the year with a knee injury. Siva averaged 11.8 points, 4.9 assists, and 2.5 rebounds for the Breakers last season.
October 7 – The Brisbane Bullets sign Hunter Clarke as a development player. Clarke formerly played at the Centre of Excellence and the University of Montana.
October 1 – The Sydney Kings sign Archie Woodhall as a development player. Woodhill returns to Sydney after suiting up for nine games last season.
September 28 – The Tasmania JackJumpers convert Isaac Smith from a nominated replacement player into a development player
September 27 – The South East Melbourne Phoenix re-sign import Zhou Qi. He averaged 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game last season.
September 26 – The South East Melbourne Phoenix sign Malcolm Bernard as an injury replacement player for Trey Kell. Bernard most recently played for the NBL1 team the Bendigo Braves, averaging 18 points per game.
September 22 – Melbourne United have lost Next Star Ariel Hukporti for the season after he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon.
September 18 – The Illawarra Hawks have re-signed Tim Coenraad as an injury replacement player. Coenraad averaged 4.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game for Illawarra last season.
September 17 – The Illawarra Hawks have signed Kevin White as an injury replacement player for Dan Grida. White played for the Perth Wildcats last season, where he averaged 3.2 points, 1.9 assists and 1.1 rebounds per game.
September 16 – David Barlow has backflipped on his retirement, returning to Melbourne United for a one-year deal.
September 15 – The Brisbane Bullets have signed Matt Johns as a development player. Johns comes off of four years playing in the NCAA, for South Dakota and Concordia St Paul.
September 7 – The Brisbane Bullets sign Rasmus Bach as a nominated replacement player for the upcoming season. Bach most recently starred for the Logan Thunder in the NBL1, averaging 15.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.

August 23 – Former Chicago Bull and Adelaide 36er Cam Bairstow announces his retirement from basketball due to injuries. Bairstow averaged 11.4 points, 8 rebounds and 1.7 assists last season for Adelaide.

August 18 – The Tasmania JackJumpers make two signings; Tristan Forsyth coming on board as a short-term injury replacement for Will Magnay, and Josh Tomasi signing as a development player.

August 10 – The Illawarra Hawks have signed their final import, securing American guard Justin Robinson to a one-year deal. Robinson most recently played for the NBA’s Detroit Pistons, averaging 5.6 points, 1.8 assists, and 1.4 rebounds.

August 3 – The Tasmania JackJumpers sign guard Isaac White, who will come on board as Injury Replacement player for Clint Steindl. White spent the last two seasons with the Illawarra Hawks, averaging 2.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game last year.
August 2 – The Illawarra Hawks lose guard Emmett Naar, who signs with Heroes Den Bosch in the BNXT League.
August 2 – Melbourne United have signed their first import of the season, nabbing American guard Rayjon Tucker to a one-year deal. Tucker is the all-time leading scorer of the G-League team the Wisconsin Herd, averaging 21.3 points per game.

July 18 – As expected, Xavier Munford is out of South East Melbourne, signing with Israel team Hapoel Tel Aviv. Munford averaged 16.6 points, 4.4 assists, and 4 rebounds per game for the Phoenix.

June 15 – Corey Webster is back in the NBL, with the Perth Wildcats announcing that they have signed the 33-year-old to a two-year contract. Webster spent the majority of his career in the league with the New Zealand Breakers, before leaving the team in 2021.

June 10 – The Adelaide 36ers continue their signing spree, signing import Robert Franks to a two-year deal. Franks spent the previous NBL season as a part of the Brisbane Bullets, where he averaged 18.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.
June 10 – The New Zealand Breakers sign the first new Next Star of the off-season, securing the services of Frenchman Rayan Rupert. Rupert most recently played at the French INSEP Academy – averaging 13.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 steals – and is projected as a late first-round 2023 NBA draft pick by ESPN.
June 9 – The Cairns Taipans have signed one of the most promising young Australian talents, announcing they are acquiring 23-year-old Sam Waardenburg. The NBL will be Waardenburg’s first professional stint, returning to Australia after playing in the NCAA for the University of Miami, where he averaged 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game.
June 9 – The Adelaide 36ers pull off the biggest coup of the off-season so far, signing 2022 NBL Best Defensive Player Antonius Cleveland to a two-year deal. Cleveland spent last season with the Illawarra Hawks, where on top of his defensive achievement he was named to the All-NBL First Team, averaging 14.2 points, 2.3 assists, and 6.6 rebounds per game.
June 9 – The South East Melbourne Phoenix sign wing Junior Madut, the 25-year-old taking on a two-year contract with a club option for the second year. This is Madut’s first professional stint, coming off of four years playing in the NCAA for the University of Hawaii.
June 8 – The Brisbane Bullets sign DJ Mitchell to a one-year deal with a second-year club option. Born in Melbourne, Mitchell joins the Bullets after a successful rookie year in the Netherlands professional league, which saw him average 16 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
June 8 – The Tasmania JackJumpers retain one of their key imports, with Josh Magette returning to Tassie for at least one more season. Magette was a crucial part of the JackJumpers’ historic Finals run, averaging 11.7 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game.
June 7 – The Sydney Kings secure the biggest signing of free agency so far, locking in 2022 NBL Finals MVP Xavier Cooks to a three-year deal (containing NBA and Europe out-clauses). Cooks was easily the best Australian player in the NBL last year, averaging 15.6 points, 10 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game – leading the league in the latter two statistics.
June 7 – The New Zealand Breakers lock in an NBL veteran, signing Cam Gliddon to a two-year deal. Gliddon joins the Breakers after two seasons with the South East Melbourne Phoenix, averaging 4.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game in 2022.
June 7 – The South East Melbourne Phoenix have announced the mutual release of Izayah Le’afa from his contract. Le’afa noted a ‘desire to return home’ was behind the release, leading many to speculate that he will be signing with the New Zealand Breakers, though there has been no official announcement of his next contract.
June 6 – The Sydney Kings sign Kouat Noi, the former Cairns Taipan hoping to right his career after a successful yet inconsistent three years. Noi averaged 8.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game for the Taipans in 2022.
June 5 – The Brisbane Bullets lose Development Player Max Mackinnon, who moves to America for college, playing in the NCAA for the Elon Phoenix.
June 4 – The Tasmania JackJumpers re-sign Development Player Sean Macdonald. Macdonald did not see much court time in his year as a DP, averaging 0.5 points, 0.5 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game.
June 3 – The Cairns Taipans lose their former MVP-finalist, with Scott Machado announcing via his Instagram that he will not be returning to Cairns. Machado missed a significant portion of the 2022 season due to injury, averaging 10.2 points, 5.3 assists, and 3 rebounds in the games he did play.
June 1 – The Illawarra Hawks sign Deng Deng to a one-year deal, the 30-year-old headed back to Wollongong after one year with the Brisbane Bullets, in which he averaged 6.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.8 assists.
May 31 – The Cairns Taipans have locked in their import, re-signing Tahjere McCall to a two-year deal. McCall was undoubtedly the Taipans’ best player last season, leading the team in both points and assists per game, 15 and 5.6 respectively.
May 30 – The Sydney Kings have re-signed Dejan Vasiljevic for three years, the final being a mutual option. Vasiljevic was a key part of the Kings’ championship run, and his new deal contains both European and NBA out clauses.
May 29 – The New Zealand Breakers sign Tom Vodanovich to a two-year deal. Vodanovich began his NBL career with the Breakers, before moving to the Sydney Kings for the last two years, the latter of which earnt him an NBL Championship.
May 28 – The Brisbane Bullets sign former NBL Rookie of the Year Harry Froling to a one-year deal, as he returns to the club after a season with the Illawarra Hawks. Froling averaged 4.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game for the Hawks in 2022.
May 27 – The Brisbane Bullets sign Kody Stattmann on a one-year deal. Stattmann joins the Bullets off the back of four years in college with the University of Virginia, and has also had extensive experience with the junior national team.
May 27 – The Adelaide 36ers sign Kyrin Galloway to a two-year deal, the power forward joining the team after two seasons in New Zealand. Galloway is one of the NBL’s most promising prospects, averaging 2.8 points and 2 rebounds per game in 2022.
May 26 – The Adelaide 36ers claim one of the top available free agents, with Anthony Drmic signing a two-year deal, the second year being a mutual option. Drmic began his NBL career in Adelaide in 2016 and returns there after two seasons with the Brisbane Bullets – the second of which saw him average 7.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.
May 25 – The Perth Wildcats have re-signed wing Todd Blanchfield, for three years, according to 10 News’ Lachy Reid. Blanchfield averaged 10.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for Perth last season.
May 25 – The New Zealand Breakers re-sign Will McDowell-White, keeping him on for at least the 2022-23 season. McDowell-White averaged 6.6 points and 3.7 assists per game last season, and elected to return to the Breakers on a one-year deal despite offers from other NBL teams.
May 24 – The Perth Wildcats player Kyle Zunic has signed a new two-year deal, which elevates him from a development player into the main roster. Zunic averaged 1.7 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game last season, and became the first development player in NBL history to start in his debut.
May 23 – The Sydney Kings coach Chase Buford confirms Tom Vodanovich will be leaving the team, via Liam Santamaria’s podcast The Huddle.
May 23 – The Sydney Kings hold onto the second piece of their championship core, signing guard Shaun Bruce to a two-year deal. The 31-year-old averaged 3.8 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in the previous season.
May 20 – The Illawarra Hawks sign Wani Swaka Lo Buluk to a two-year contract. Swaka Lo Buluk joins the Hawks off the back of an NBL championship run, averaging 4.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per game. Only 21 years old, he will be auto-eligible for the 2023 NBA Draft.
May 20 – Veteran Adam Gibson announces his retirement. Gibson was one of the inaugural South East Melbourne Phoenix signings, with his 17-year NBL career seeing him win two NBL championships, and represent Australia at the 2012 London Olympics.
May 20 – The Tasmania JackJumpers lock in their leader, with head coach Scott Roth signing a three-year extension. Roth was the 2022 NBL Coach of the Year, and lead his team to the Grand Final in their first year in the league.
May 20 – Melbourne United sign Makuach Maluach to a one-year contract. Maluach most recently played overseas in Finland, for Kouvot, with the 24-year-old currently playing for the Darwin Salties in the NBL1.

May 18 – The South East Melbourne Phoenix lock down their franchise player, signing Mitch Creek to a three-year extension. Creek has been voted to the All-NBL Second Team both of the previous two years.
The Phoenix have also signed coach Simon Mitchell to a one-year extension, the inaugural coach staying in the top job for 2023.
May 18 – Melbourne United retain veteran Brad Newley, who averaged 4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in 2022, shooting 43% from the field.
May 17 – The Perth Wildcats retain Majok Majok and Oliver Hayes-Brown, with both taking up their mutual options.
May 17 – The Adelaide 36ers re-sign Development Player Nick Marshall for two years, the second of which sees him promoted to the active roster.
May 17 – The Sydney Kings retain guard Angus Glover, as he and the club pick up his mutual option. Glover was a key part of the Kings 2022 Championship campaign, averaging 5.3 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
May 16 – The Cairns Taipans retain Keanu Pinder and Bul Kuol, with both players taking up their mutual options. Pinder was the 2022 NBL Most Improved Player, and Kuol was the 2022 NBL Rookie of the Year.
May 15 – The New Zealand Breakers sign power forward Dan Fotu to a two-year contract. Fotu is a New Zealander who is coming off four years with college team the Saint Mary’s Gaels.
