Rick Sanchez has appeared in MultiVersus early, with the Rick and Morty star popping up in the crossover fighting game’s character select screen.
Multiple MultiVersus players have reported seeing Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty appear in lobbies before being actually added into the game. The massive Warner Bros. crossover fighting game includes characters from various different properties like Game of Thrones, Steven Universe and DC Comics. Developer Player First Games recently revealed that Rick and Morty are coming to MultiVersus in the future, but the animated mad scientist has apparently shown up early.
MultiVersus recently soft launched on July 26, with the platform fighting game featuring 17 playable characters right off the bat. Most of this roster must be unlocked using paid Character Tokens, though the game does include a small rotating pool of four free fighters. These pop culture combatants include Batman, Harley Quinn, Steven Universe, Bugs Bunny, The Iron Giant, Arya Stark and more. MultiVersus is set to be a live-service game, too, with new characters and stages set to be released long into the future. Player First Games recently confirmed LeBron James, Rick and Morty for MultiVersus, with the NBA star already available and the cartoon duo expected in the near future.
As reported by TheGamer, several MultiVersus players have recently spotted Rick Sanchez in the character select screen even though the strange scientist isn’t in the game yet. Multiple Twitter users, like mirrorman and Smash Creeper, encountered other players who were mysteriously able to choose Rick from the title’s current roster. While these users seemingly weren’t able to actually play as Rick, they were able to see his twitchy select screen animation. This strange appearance could suggest that MultiVersus will add the Rick and Morty star to the game in the very near future.
While the crossover fighting game already has a large and varied roster of characters, fans have been imagining additional inclusions like Walter White from Breaking Bad in MultiVersus. The concept art sees Walter, also known as the drug lord Heisenberg, recreated into the title’s cartoonish style. The villainous protagonist of Breaking Bad has plenty of memorable weaponry to bring into battle, though the character may not fit the family-friendly tone of MultiVersus very well. The fan-made concept art, however, does transform Walter White into a cartoonish style and includes three alternate outfits for the iconic chemist.
MultiVersus is set to add Rick Sanchez soon, and the nihilistic scientist has apparently made an early appearance in the game. The beloved star of Rick and Morty will no doubt bring an arsenal of gadgets to the arena, with his character select screen showing him reaching for some sort of weapon. The release date for Rick and Morty has not been announced, but Rick’s character select cameo suggests that he may show up in the near future.
