Marvel's Avengers Offers Iron Man's MCU Suit For Free – Screen Rant

Marvel’s Avengers is now offering the Iron Man MCU suit for free in the marketplace, a move that may frustrate fans who already purchased it.
Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers is offering Iron Man’s MCU suit for free in the marketplace, likely frustrating players who already purchased the in-game cosmetic. Since its launch, Marvel’s Avengers has made a habit of disappointing fans, from lackluster content updates and pay-to-win features to what has been perceived as the developers’ continuous disregard for its player base. For example, the recent V2.3 patch offered a plethora of bug fixes, while simultaneously bringing a new set of issues, such as Marvel’s Avengers crashing on PS5. Though Crystal Dynamics quickly remedied the issue, the catastrophic update only heightened the ongoing controversy surrounding the game.
Regardless of the game’s glaring issues, Crystal Dynamics continues to feed Marvel’s Avengers with new skins. Players have most recently been able to don Spider-Man’s Infinity War armor, and a new MCU Black Widow skin was added in early March. It seems every week Crystal Dynamics drops new in-game cosmetics, and some are quite impressive, like the comic-inspired Uru Iron Man Suit. That said, many fans have been critical of the game’s steady stream of new skins, especially since the state of Marvel’s Avengers isn’t what players expect. Many want the developers to focus on adding new content to the game, or at the very least, to make sure it works before adding more skins to purchase. Fans were especially angry that Marvel’s Avengers revealed its MCU Thor skin before fixing the PS5 crashes.

According to the Marvel’s Avengers Twitter account, the game is now offering Iron Man’s MCU suit for free in the marketplace. The suit, which has Tony Stark’s signature red and gold accents, is directly inspired by the Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. The Marvel’s Avengers outfit can be claimed for free starting April 1, 2022 in the in-game Marketplace for those who are not already a “proud owner” of the suit.
The classic suit from Marvel’s 2008 Iron Man film first became available via Marvel’s Avengers’ Marketplace at the end of September 2021, though at the time, players had to purchase the cosmetic like other in-game skins. MCU-inspired skins cost upwards of 1400 credits, which can be purchased with real-world currency or earned by completing Hero Challenge cards. It’s likely that some players won’t be thrilled that the Marvel Studio’s Iron Man outfit is now free after previously costing money. It hasn’t been confirmed why Crystal Dynamics is offering the MCU skin for free, though it’s possibly an apology for the recent issue on PS5 consoles.
While the Iron Man MCU suit is a well-designed in-game cosmetic, offering it for free likely won’t be enough to quell fan frustration. It seems players are more interested in new game content rather than more or free skins. It’s hard to believe Crystal Dynamics isn’t attempting to remedy the state of Marvel’s Avengers, and if the development team has been listening, it’s likely cooking up new content. Marvel’s Avengers’ Hawkeye voice actor teased such content, though nothing has been confirmed, and the developers would be smart to release a substantial add-on in the near future.
