An upcoming Grand Theft Auto Online update, The Criminal Enterprises, will boost the game’s economy and introduce new activities for each career.
Rockstar Games has announced a new Grand Theft Auto Online update, titled The Criminal Enterprises, which will give players exciting new ways to earn cash. The open-world crime simulator launched back in 2013 as the online component of Grand Theft Auto 5, though the multiplayer title has far outlived its single-player counterpart. A Grand Theft Auto Online Criminal Careers update was teased by Rockstar earlier this month, and now The Criminal Enterprises has been officially unveiled.
While the Grand Theft Auto experience is primarily focused on making money, fans have been critical of GTA Online’s career paths and business opportunities. The multiplayer title lets players earn a profit by completing missions, side tasks or minor activities, and a variety of career paths lets each player choose how they want to amass their fortune. However, many Grand Theft Auto Online players feel that the game forces them to constantly grind for money if they want to afford San Andreas’ most enticing rewards. Players that want to make money in Grand Theft Auto Online must repeat missions constantly, but The Criminal Enterprises update may help improve this system.
Developer Rockstar Games has detailed how the upcoming Criminal Enterprises update will overhaul Grand Theft Auto Online’s Criminal Careers and make earning money more engaging. A trailer, posted to YouTube by Rockstar Games, teases a storyline centered around skyrocketing gas prices and a ferocious heatwave. The Criminal Enterprises, launching on July 26, will add new content for every GTA Online career path. Executives can now source Special Cargo, Bikers can modify custom motorcycles, Gunrunners gain new Resupply Missions and Nightclub owners get new ways to promote their space. The update, launching on July 26, will also introduce new missions and vehicles alongside permanent payout boosts to improve the game’s economy.
While GTA Online continues to receive new content, no more Red Dead Online updates are in the works. The multiplayer Wild West experience, which serves as an online companion mode to Red Dead Redemption 2, launched back in 2019. However, Rockstar Games appeared to largely ignore Red Dead Online in favor of producing frequent and expansive updates for GTA Online. Earlier this month Rockstar announced that development efforts will shift away from the gunslinger simulator to instead focus on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. Despite abandoning Red Dead Online, it appears that the developer is still committed to supporting GTA Online as it approaches ten years old.
The Criminal Enterprises update looks to give GTA Online players many new ways to make a living in San Andreas. A variety of new Criminal Career activities will make earning money less repetitive, and permanent payout boosts will let players purchase exciting items much quicker. The Criminal Enterprises will hit Grand Theft Auto Online on July 26, so players can look forward to stuffing their wallets soon.
