Battlefield 2042: 10 Tips The Game Doesn't Tell You – Screen Rant

FPS games come with so many features that it’s hard to know them all, especially if they were never mentioned. An example of this is Battlefield 2042.
The Battlefield series has been a major force in the online first-person shooter genre since its inception (nearly two decades ago)! And with its influence spawned numerous titles similar or straight-up parodies like the beloved Clownfield 2042, the hilarious parody of Battlefield 2042 fitted with numerous multiplayer modes.
Of course, it being a AAA first-person shooter means the depths of the game’s mechanics run deep, so much so that the game itself might not have enough time or room to teach players some otherwise important information. As that seems to be the common trend with games nowadays it’s up to the player to search for themselves the best Battlefield gameplay strategies veterans might be keeping to themselves.
With the abundance of characters littering the battleground, it’s easy to expend enough ammo to leave a player dry, especially so if a player’s team is not equipped with an ammo restoring gadget. Fortunately, this problem could be avoided so long as a player has unlocked and equipped multiple magazines to swap between during gameplay.

Simply after expending the ammunition in their primary magazine all the player has to do is swap to another equipped magazine to essentially stay in the game with even more ammunition. Though note that swapping to ammunition with different effects will affect the handling of the weapon a player is using.
The best weapons are the ones no one notice, in particular those that don’t make a sound. That is the melee weapon every player is equipped with by default. Sure it may be more effective to use explosives or even actual destructive ammunition but if players want to conserve either ammo or their life melee may be the way to go against vehicles.
Depending on the situation a player may find it unwise to unload their magazine of ammunition on a vehicle and subsequently reveal themselves on the radar to every nearby enemy. Just sneaking towards the target and pummeling it might give players an edge when outnumbered. Even if their target vehicle is occupied the strategy is still viable as occupying a vehicle obstructs their vision.
While there is a depressively long list of missing features in Battlefield 2042, swapping to singleplayer to farm bots for experience is a viable strategy. A great feature of Battlefield 2042 is the implementation of progression to a player’s loadout even in single-player, though that ability got nerfed as it became common for players to abuse the mechanic to level up crazily.
Running into a battlefield with the most basic of attachments is no different than putting yourself at a disadvantage. Against more well-equipped players the difference between skills can be closed with attachments that provide better range, effectiveness, or accuracy. That being the case there’s no shame in training using single-player to enter the true battlefield with advantages.
In most first-person shooters suppressors are typically used to hide a player’s location on a map even when they are firing their weapon, In Battlefield 2042, that may not entirely be the case. Suppressors in Battlefield 2042 act as the name implies, they suppress a player’s activity when they are firing. They do not entirely hide that activity on the map, only suppress it.

This means firing a gun with a suppressor still leaves the possibility of being spotted on the map. Only that possibility exists when an enemy is nearby. In close-quarter combat, this makes the suppressor effectively useless. Players should keep that in mind when firing in an area highly populated by enemies.
With how large the maps of Battlefield 2042 are, using a sniper rifle to pick off enemies from afar is a viable strategy. Only it would seem the developers have implemented a feature to reveal the locations of players using a sniper rifle from far away, a bright glint that shines in the eyes of enemies.
Normally this can be a sniper’s nightmare as their target has the possibility to know when they’re being aimed at during the most decisive moment. Fortunately, there is a way to avoid this. Snipers equipped with a 4x scope and lower will not glint when aimed, players should note that this is only effective in semi-close ranges.
In the beta, Rangers, the robotic dog-like AI-controlled turrets were unable to be commanded by the player who called it in. Instead, the mobile weapon patrolled the area it was called in without scrutiny. Thankfully the feature to command a Ranger was implemented in the full release, only because it follows the FPS cliche that’s almost present in every FPS of having a frustratingly amount of equipment it is very inconvenient to access.
Bringing up the command menu, typically used to allow a player without vocal communication to their team to issue commands, will show a grid of options that a player could use to control their Ranger. Along with those options will be a square to command a Ranger of where the player wants it to go by simply looking at the targeted area and letting go of the highlighted option.
Having control over a weapon’s rate of fire is crucial depending on the situation, such as using controlled single shots on enemies far away or going full auto on enemies up close. Changing the rate of fire allows for versatility in almost any situation depending on the weapon being used.

To change the rate of fire of a weapon the player must be aiming with the weapon of their choice. After that in the bottom right of their hud, to the left of their remaining ammunition, will be a tiny indicator describing the weapon’s current state. Along with it will be the input depending on the controller the player is using to toggle in between rates of fire.
Returning an enemy’s throwable is a common feature in almost every first-person shooter. There’s definitely tension to picking up a live grenade and returning it to its sender before being blown up. Thankfully Battlefield 2042 has carried on that tradition and allowed that feature to players.
Players should note that only two tactical throwables can be picked up and thrown by opponents, grenades, and sensors. While the former only allows a few seconds to act if a player is quick enough it can save their life and perhaps their teammates as well. The latter allows for turning an enemy’s tool into a friend, making it work for whoever picked it back up.
An addition to Battlefield 2042 in one of its patches was the implementation of icons that show up when a player needs assistance. To be specific a cross will hover above teammates who can assist with health when a player has low hp.
The same could be said for players low on ammunition, as a bullet will icon appear over players who can restock ammo. Using the command screen can call out to these players if aid is needed, otherwise, players that need help can only hope that those equipped with the proper equipment are willing to lend aid of their own initiative, though it is a bad habit of FPS players to neglect the needs of their teammates.
Even if a player doesn’t have a need to change their loadout visiting a loadout crate may still be a good idea. Simply reselecting the already equipped loadout option will refill the player of any ammunition or tacticals they used beforehand.
Different from ammo crates loadout crates must be interacted with to restore ammunition. Standing beside them expending to be refilled of depleted resources will not do anything other than waste time and potentially put a player in the sights of an enemy.
