A Pin Feature For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's HUD Would Be a Game Changer – GameRant

While fans do not know exactly what Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be like, its HUD should implement a fan-requested feature.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has a lot to live up to. Not only was the 2019 reboot a massive success for Activision, ensuring that there are expectations for the sequel to perform well, but the original Modern Warfare 2 remains a fan favorite entry in the long-running franchise. While playing into nostalgia would surely help the game succeed, innovation will be necessary as well.
One feature Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 needs is not as game changing as something like Pro Perks returning, but it could make a big difference in the long run. Just like the ping system made matches more enjoyable by allowing for better coordination with teammates, a pin feature for the HUD could be a huge quality of life improvement for those that play often.

There are a few things that a pin feature could bring to the table if it were to appear in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, so it would be important for Infinity Ward to make sure the setting is customizable. This could be as simple as an area in the settings menu with three different options. The first could allow gamers to disable pinning things to the HUD altogether, as some players will want a minimal HUD with less to read. As for the other two options, players should be able to pin their stats and challenges.
Starting with stats, this mechanic seems like a no-brainer, as many Call of Duty players constantly want to know what their kill/death ratio is or see how they are performing in comparison to the rest of their team. Normally, players will do that by checking the scoreboard, constantly stopping to press a button. This gives them another thing to focus on that is not the match itself, with the distraction occasionally leading to death. While the watches featured in recent titles have made things slightly easier, players still need to emote to check their stats, blocking a portion of their screen and removing the ability to fight back if an enemy suddenly turns the corner.
If a pin feature was added, players could throw their stats into the corner of the screen (or another spot of their choosing), allowing them to see how they are performing at any point in the match. No button press would be needed, as players could simply shift their eyes to see their score, kill/death ratio, place on the team, and objectively play in modes like Hardpoint and Domination. For those that obsessively check their stats, this would be an awesome addition that makes its value clear over time.
The even bigger benefit of a pin feature would come from the option to place challenge progress on the HUD. Whether players are working to unlock a weapon camo or are in the midst of a seasonal challenge that provides a flashy Calling Card, being able to instantly track the progress being made at any time would be incredible. Currently, players can only track certain challenges via the pause menu, leading to the same level of risk as checking the scoreboard. Further, other challenges cannot be seen in the pause menu at all, with players needing to memorize their challenge progress before a match even begins.
While a pin feature might not be as flashy as the rumored Tarkov-like mode, or remakes of iconic maps from the original Modern Warfare 2, it is something that would make moment-to-moment gameplay less tedious. The challenge grind would instantly become more accessible, while those that care about their stats would not be punished for checking up on how well they are doing. If such a feature comes, it could make the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 more enjoyable, and it would undoubtedly be a must-have mechanic for future releases as well.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to release in 2022.
