You Can Still Get Overwatch 2 Beta Access If You Missed It: Here's How – Screen Rant

The Overwatch League, an Overwatch competitive esports league, will be giving away Overwatch 2 beta keys in its opening weekend on YouTube.
Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.
For players who missed out on the initial opportunity to get access to Overwatch 2‘s beta test, there is still another way to get a beta access key. Beta access keys have been initially restricted to Twitch drops, requiring viewers on Twitch to tune in to specific streaming channels for a specified amount of time to land an invite to Overwatch 2‘s beta testing. Now that the Twitch drop offer has expired, Overwatch players will get another opportunity to join the Overwatch 2 beta test through the Overwatch League.
The Overwatch 2 PvP beta was announced in March and quickly broke the official Blizzard website due to high interest and people trying to sign-up. Although the main focus of Overwatch 2 is co-op, the first game was primarily multiplayer-oriented and achieved huge success with its PvP gameplay. The sequel is set to change multiple aspects of Overwatch‘s multiplayer, including changing from 6v6 to 5v5 multiplayer and introducing key reworks to heroes like Doomfist and Sombra, both of which are playable in the ongoing beta.

The main way players were able to get access to the beta was by pre-registering after its initial announcement. However, eager players were also able to receive Overwatch 2 beta keys by tuning in to a handful of Twitch channels for four hours or more and linking their Twitch accounts to a Battle.net account. Now, players who missed out on the Twitch offer can head over to YouTube and watch the Overwatch League in May and potentially gain access to the Overwatch 2 beta.
Players looking to sign up for the Overwatch 2 beta can tune in to the Overwatch League on its YouTube channel when the event begins on May 5, 2022. Similar to the Twitch drop offer, and revealed by the Overwatch League Twitter account, viewers will have to link their YouTube account to a Battle.net account, and view a minimum of one hour of broadcasting, to be eligible for a beta key. During the event’s opening weekend, 1,500 beta access keys will be offered every hour, with more bonus access keys made available during select matches.
The Overwatch 2 beta is well underway, and many players are seeing firsthand the good (and bad) changes coming to Overwatch 2. The game’s new 5v5 meta has dramatically changed the flow of gameplay, making more mobile heroes best to play in Overwatch 2. This being the beta version of the game, however, means there will still be plenty of changes to Overwatch 2‘s balance and gameplay before the full version is released. In the meantime, players looking for a piece of the action can tune in to Overwatch league on May 5th and cross their fingers for a chance to enter Overwatch 2 as the beta test continues.
