Splatoon 3: Tricolor Turf War (Tips, Tricks, & Strategies) – Screen Rant

Players will be able to battle in a three-way Turf War during Splatoon 3’s Splatfest with the introduction of the new game mode, Tricolor Turf War.
Splatoon 3 is set to be released on September 9th and will bring with it a new Splatfest event and game mode, the Tricolor Turf War. Splatoon is a Nintendo game series that was originally released in 2015 and that has since gained critical acclaim and sold over 18 million copies, making it one of the company's most successful modern games. The game itself is a third-person shooter multiplayer that consists of an ongoing battle between Inklings and Octolings, two opposing factions representing squids and octopuses. These two groups battle for supremacy in Turf Wars, in which they must use their ink to cover as much of the map as possible while preventing the enemy team from doing the same.
Turf Wars are the most popular game mode in the Splatoon series and revolve around two teams trying to paint as much of the map as they can. After about three minutes, the match ends, and the team with the most percentage of map painted is the winner. During a Turf War in Splatoon 3, having a surface covered in their ink provides a team with several benefits, such as allowing them to transform into “swim” form, which increases their speed, lets them climb surfaces, and replenishes their ink reserves. Meanwhile, walking over enemy-painted surfaces will slow players down and gradually damage them.

A Splatfest in the Splatoon series is a special event hosted by in-game characters that pit two factions against each other, such as Cats versus Dogs in Splatoon 1 and 2. During these events, players can choose one of the teams and earn points for their faction by competing in Turf Wars against players of the opposite faction. In the third installment of the series, this event is going to be hosted by the three members of Deep Cut, and players will instead choose between three factions, Rock, Paper, or Scissors, and compete in an all-new game mode in Splatoon 3, the Tricolor Turf War.
Tricolor Turf Wars function similarly to normal Turf Wars but will instead pit three teams against each other instead of just two, although it would be more accurate to say two teams against one. One of the teams will start in the middle of the map, where they must protect the Ultra Signal from enemy players. If one of the other two teams manages to reach the Ultra Signal and use it, one of the members of Deep Cut will deploy the Sprinkler of Doom, this weapon in Splatoon 3 which will spray large amounts of their ink around the stage.
This game mode gives the team in the middle a big advantage but also makes them a giant target, as they are the only team that cannot use the Ultra Signal to deploy the Sprinkler of Doom. This forces the center team to focus on defense while painting as much of the map as they can from that position. The only stages that are currently known to host Tricolor Turf Wars during Splatoon 3's Splatfest are Hammerhead Bridge, Sturgeon Shipyard, and MakoMart.
