Some Call of Duty: Warzone Players Aren't Happy About the Latest Loadout Changes – GameRant

Call of Duty Warzone players voice their frustrations over the recent tweaks to loadout drop timing, which seems to incentivize camping.
With Season 3 right around the corner for Call of Duty: Warzone, big changes are on the way. As expected, the upcoming season will bring about a new multiplayer map, new game modes, new operators added to the already expansive Warzone roster, as well as other balance updates and bug fixes. However, the biggest change in Season 3 will be the inclusion of monsters like King Kong and Godzilla, who are arriving inside of Warzone during Operation Monarch.
Although players have certainly gotten used to major changes coming inside of each season and its Reloaded update during the halfway point, Call of Duty: Warzone is always changing thanks to it being a live service game. Patches and various updates are nearly a weekly event, bringing about welcome bug fixes or possibly introducing a nerf to a popular Warzone weapon or item. Unfortunately, not every change made is a welcome one with the community, especially a recent update made to loadouts and loadout drops during matches.

Last week, Raven Software made a few tweaks to loadout drops, which gives players who capture the falling cargo a chance to alter their loadout for free, rather than spending money to call one in at a buy station. Loadouts in Warzone have been criticized plenty in the past and the latest is just another in a long line of frustrations. The latest update made it so these loadout drops happen much sooner during a match, though the timing has left many in the community feeling frustrated due to the behavior it can create very early on.
In a Call of Duty: Warzone subReddit thread, user bwash407 lays out their dissatisfaction with the new loadout drop timing, mentioning that it incentivizes camping from enemy players who wait to ambush those looking to capitalize on the free loot. Others have chimed in with similar statements saying that it discourages players from dropping into hot zones in order to avoid potential gunfights as well as actually hunting for decent loot on the ground. Many feel loudouts would work better if they dropped at least 2 minutes later.
It's unknown whether or not Raven will adjust the loadout drop timing, though if the community gets loud enough, the developer may end up looking into it. However, with Season 3 on deck, the developer clearly has a lot on its plate at the moment. Players will soon need to adapt their landing strategy anyway as it was confirmed that Caldera is getting new points of interest added to the map like Dig Site. With Godzilla and King Kong getting added to matches and the shadow organization Monarch having a bigger hand in events on the map, players will also see a host of changes to familiar locations like Peak, Runway, and Lagoon as well.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with Season 3 launching on April 27th.
