Newly-announced Warped Kart Racers will let players become characters from some of Fox’s most beloved animated shows, including Family Guy.
A new kart racing game featuring characters from Fox-owned animated shows such as Family Guy, American Dad, and King of the Hill has been announced, giving fans the chance to race as beloved characters including Peter Griffin. The game continues a long line of vehicular-related competitive titles that seek to find the same success as the Mario Kart franchise.
Fox’s animated shows have become known for their impressively long runs over the past few decades, with shows such as Family Guy now airing its 20th season. Although many would argue that some of these shows have overstayed their welcome and should have stopped in earlier seasons when they were considered to be at their best, it’s undeniable that the characters, such as Family Guy‘s Griffin family, are beloved by many. Viewers and gamers still celebrate their love of Fox’s classic animated shows through fan art and mash-up content, with one artist even blending two unlikely worlds together with their King of the Hill and Bloodborne artwork.
Fox and Apple Arcade have announced a new Fox kart racer, Warped Kart Racers, which is being developed by Electric Square and will feature characters from a host of animated Fox shows. Warped Kart Racers will sport a cast of 20 characters from across Family Guy and American Dad, the 90s-00s classic King of the Hill, and relative newcomer Solar Opposites, which only debuted on Hulu in 2020. Warped Kart Racers is also due to have 16 tracks, online multiplayer for up to eight players, and full controller support. As would be expected from any kart racer, there is also a variety of customizable features on offer, including outfits, vehicles, wheels, gliders, and antennae which can be unlocked through the title’s daily challenges.
Although Warped Kart Racers will already boast an impressive roster of playable drivers upon its May 20 launch, Fox fans will likely be hoping for other iconic characters such as the Simpsons family, or characters from Futurama to be added to the kart racer in future updates. Although nothing has been confirmed regarding post-launch content, with Futurama‘s latest reboot in the works, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to see its characters added to the title to coincide with that series’ air date.
Given Electric Square’s history of working on Forza Street prior to its cancellation, it also wouldn’t be surprising to see some of the Forza series’ famously impressive racing mechanics brought over from that title and incorporated into Warped Kart Racers‘ cartoon carnage. Given the popularity of the characters on show, and this potentially impressive gameplay, fans of Family Guy and Fox’s other animated shows will likely have plenty to look forward to when Warped Kart Racers is released later this month.
