Pokémon GO: Mega Legendary Raids Coming Soon, Leaks Hint – Screen Rant

A recent Pokémon GO data leak suggests that Legendary Mega Raids could be added to the game alongside other Mega Evolution-related features.
A recent leak suggests that developer Niantic might be adding Mega Legendary Raids to Pokémon GO soon. The popular mobile-based Pokémon game is still going strong nearly six years after its release, with Pokémon GO adding new collectible creatures and hosting special events regularly. Some of the most recent examples of these have been Pokémon GO’s special Spring event that featured cute flower crowns for certain Pokémon and this month’s Community Day that marked the debut of the Alolan Pokémon Stufful.
Some of these new Pokémon GO additions have centered around Mega Evolutions, which were first introduced in Pokémon X and Y as a powerful yet temporary new stage for certain Pokémon almost a decade ago. Pokémon GO only introduced Mega Evolutions in 2020, and only 17 different species are available at this time. The method for performing Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO is different than in other games, as players need to consume a set amount of Mega Energy for their partner Pokémon to reach their Mega stage instead of using a Mega Stone. Recent data leaks have suggested that Niantic could be revamping the leveling system for Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO, but that might not be the only big change on the way.

Earlier this week, PokémonGoHub.net posted the findings of a recent data leak by Pokémon datamining group PokeMiners that lists several different updates and new features that will supposedly be added to Pokémon GO in the near future. Chief among them is an assets image showing off Pokémon GO’s new Mega Legendary Eggs and a branching evolution map for these powerful alternate forms. Some leaked lines of source code suggest that Legendary Mega Evolution Raids are going to be added to Pokémon GO, as well as various search options and user interface updates centered around Pokémon GO’s Mega Evolutions. Of course, PokemonGoHub.net points out that the information uncovered in these leaks could be subject to change at any time, and the new content contained therein.
2022 has been a busy and eventful year for the Pokémon franchise thus far, as Pokémon Legends: Arceus launched on the Nintendo Switch to considerable praise back in January. Later on, Pokémon fans got their first look at the next generation of mainline Pokémon games with the surprise announcement of Pokémon Scarlet And Violet last month. Meanwhile, Pokémon GO is continuing to host special events for its players, such as last week’s Sustainability Week event that added nature-themed Pokémon Oranguru and Shiny Cherubi to promote supporting the environment.
Mega Evolutions have been a relatively recent addition to Pokémon GO, and Niantic is still tweaking and adding to the gameplay surrounding this powerful Pokémon stage – such as bringing in Mega Evolutions for rare and powerful Legendaries. The leaks found in PokeMiners’ latest datamine haven’t officially been confirmed by Nintendo or Niantic yet, so Pokémon GO players should stay tuned for a more concrete announcement of Legendary Mega Evolution Raids.

J. Brodie Shirey is just a simple man trying to make his way in the universe, but aren’t we all? He currently lives in York, Pennsylvania. He is a big comic book, video game, and science fiction fan, and likes writing articles for ScreenRant or scripts for some of his crazy TV show ideas.

A graduate from York County School of Technology, he’s self-published several books on Amazon, and once won 1st place at a regional computer fair for a CGI animated short. He might post it on Youtube someday. He hopes that working for this site will be his first step into the larger universe of online writing, since Megazord technology hasn’t been invented yet and he doesn’t seem to have any Force powers.
