With the release of Destiny 2’s latest expansion, the Witch Queen, Bungie released a number of new legendary weapons based on the game’s weapon foundries as world drops. Among these weapons is the first Hakke scout rifle available since Bungie sunset old weapons over two years ago, the Perses-D. Not only is it a powerful weapon, with great perk combinations for both PvE and PvP activities, but it just feels excellent to shoot. Here is everything you need to know about how to get the Perses-D Scout Rifle in Destiny 2, and what the god rolls are.
The Perses-D can be obtained in two ways. As a drop in the world loot pool, it can appear from any engram that spawns from killing enemies, rewards at the end of activities, or any other drop that isn’t focused on specific loot such as Vanguard or Crucible drops at the end of matches. That means no matter what you do, you will be working towards a god roll of the Perses-D.
This season, however, Bungie has introduced a much easier way of obtaining foundry weapons such as the Perses-D. At the Star Chart in the Helm, Bungie has introduced four new Umbral Focusing options on top of the usual seasonal gear.
Each one costs an Umbral Engram and some Legendary Shards, and in turn, will let you focus on getting a drop of a weapon from the foundry of your choice. Each one has five weapons that can drop from them, meaning that you have a 20% chance of getting the weapon you want. While not a particularly high chance, it is much higher than trying your luck with the dozens of weapons available in the world loot pool.
Column One
For PvE and PvP activities, the best choices from this column remain relatively the same. The Perses-D’s strengths are in its range and aim assist, both of which are high for its archetype. Its stability and handling, however, need improvement. Additionally, its base recoil value of 74 can be improved. This leaves three options to cover its weak points.
Arrowhead Brake will boost handling by ten and additionally gives it perfect recoil, making it the best option, particularly for PvP. If you desire a more fluid feel for your weapon, Fluted Barrel gives +15 handling with an additional +5 to stability. Finally, if you want to focus only on stability and the Flinch Resist it provides, Polygonal Rifling will give a +10 to the stat.
Column Two
This is where the desired perks for PvE and PvP begin to differentiate. For PvE, the best option is Tactical Mag, hands down. It provides an extra bullet to the magazine, +10 to reload speed which isn’t the most needed but helpful, and an additional +5 stability to round things out. For PvP, Steady Rounds is going to be your best bet. While it does reduce your range stat by 5, the bonus of +15 stability as well as a +7 to airborne effectiveness more than makes up for it by patching up one of the weapon’s bigger weak points.
Column Three
The options for Perses-D has for Column Three are somewhat lacking, with only three good perks out of six. For PvE, the two clear winners are Stats for All and Rapid Hit. Rapid Hit is my personal choice, as it not only provides an additional +25 stability at maximum stats but raises the reload speed to a whopping 93, making it near instant. All it requires you to do is hit precision shots on a target, which is what a Scout Rifle is best at doing and works for both single and multiple targets.
Stats for All is good as well, requiring hitting three targets in quick succession before providing a massive stat boost to handling and reload, as well as minor boosts to range and stability. It additionally synergizes well with the One for All perk in column four, which provides a 35% damage boost for doing the exact same thing.
The problem with this perk is that it requires three targets to be available to proc. Perses-D is a slow-firing weapon with a mag size of 14 at base, meaning that you’re going to have to use those shots shooting individual enemies before it can gain its benefits and making it poor for single target engagements. With how fast teammates can clear out rooms of enemies, oftentimes, you will be left without enough targets to shoot.
For PvP, the best perks are Perpetual Motion and Rapid Hit. Rapid Hit is good for the same reasons as mentioned previously, rewarding you for playing well and hitting headshots. Perpetual Motion provides +15 to stability, handling, and reload speed and only requires you to be moving consistently. This works well with good PvP playstyles, which often requires players to strafe and dodge enemy targets and keep those benefits active.
Column Four
Column Four fares much better than Column Three does. For PvE activities, every option is excellent, with the exception of Opening Shot. One for All synergizes excellently with the Stats for All perk in Column Three, and is good for any scenario that has three or more targets to shoot. Focused Fury synergizes well with Rapid Hit, giving a +20% damage boost for hitting half the magazine as precision hits. It’s best for single target damage, as it is much easier to whiff or hit body shots when dealing with fast-moving ads.
Vorpal Weapon provides a +20% damage boost against bosses and vehicles for completely free. This includes Champions, which makes it a viable perk option for endgame activities such as Grandmaster Nightfalls or Hard Mode Raids. Explosive Payload, which may be the best option, provides a +15% damage boost in PvE as well as being extra effective against anti-barrier champions due to its explosive damage counting as a separate hit. Headstone is a good ad clear perk, spawning a stasis crystal at an enemy’s location upon a precision kill.
For PvP, there are two excellent perk options. The first, Explosive Payload, mitigates damage falloff and splits damage into precision and explosive damage, making the gun feel much more accurate from any range as well as dealing slight splash damage. The other option, Opening Shot, provides +25 range, +20 aim assist, as well as increased accuracy for the first shot of an engagement. Considering that Perses-D has the potential to kill an opponent in three headshots or two headshots and two body shots, that is a huge bump in stats for 25%-33% of your engagement.
Below, we’ve broken down the best god rolls for this scout rifle, separating them by Player vs. Enemy and Player vs. Player.
Perses-D is easier to get than ever and is a strong addition to your loadout, no matter your choice of perks. With strong base stats and an excellent perk pool, many Guardians have already made it an essential part of their loadout.
