Dreamworld launches into a brighter future with the second phase of its future growth plan, including area upgrades and attraction investments of over $50 million.
Late 2021 saw the launch of Dreamworld’s $32 million rollercoaster investment, Steel Taipan, and the celebration of the park’s 40th anniversary, but Dreamworld is not stopping there, making a range of updates to the Gold Coast attraction over coming years and into the future.
With plans including a Circus activation over the summer holidays, a new Wave Swinger ride, a refreshed kids land including two new kids rides, an extension of Ocean Parade including a new splash pad, a brand new themed land featuring a reimagined family favourite in Vintage Cars and a major new family rollercoaster, Dreamworld is focused on ensuring that the park’s recovery is not only continued but accelerated.
Dreamworld CEO Greg Yong said that the dream of Dreamworld’s recovery lives on, with more enthusiasm than ever to return the park to its former glory.
“Since the announcement of the first phase of Dreamworld’s future growth, while we have faced various challenges, we have also reached some incredible milestones and made some significant improvements both fiscally – and, importantly, in relation to our guest experience,” Yong said.
“Despite the challenges faced, we have reached the incredible milestone of helping guests at Dreamworld make memories for over 40 years, and this series of announcements will help us to ensure we make them for many more.”
With the first summer school holiday period in recent years unrestricted by COVID impacts to take place from mid-next month, Dreamworld will make the most of the silly season by becoming an absolute Circus!
The circus features free daily shows in the Big Top, globe riders, aerial acts, comedy acts, hydro stunts in the Dreamworld Pond and even clowns from 27 December – 8 January free with valid park entry.
The entry to Dreamworld will be enhanced with a new Wave Swinger attraction, situated alongside the Dreamworld Globe and sending guests tilting and spinning into the sky from mid-2023.
This family friendly ride will be suitable for children and adults and offer an additional pay-per-play offering to the park’s night market.
Other new attractions and park updates include Kenny and Belinda’s Dreamland and Ocean Parade extension, a Tiger Island evolution, the introduction of solar power, Rivertown, the redesign of vintage car adventure and Jungle Rush, the new family rollercoaster.
Queensland tourism minister Stirling Hinchliffe said Dreamworld’s investment in new and upgraded attractions would be a huge contributor to the Gold Coast visitor economy.
“It’s an exciting time to be in Queensland and this $50 million recovery investment is a significant vote of confidence in the Gold Coast as Australia’s favourite visitor destination,” Hinchliffe said.
“Domestic tourism in Queensland has bounced back better than before COVID to rally to a nation leading position for visitor spending.
“It’s terrific to see Dreamworld building back better on the Gold Coast with more world-class destination visitor experiences for Queensland’s international recovery.
“Dreamworld’s investment plans are set to deliver more of Queensland’s great lifestyle for visitors to enjoy and support for good Queensland jobs.”
