Destiny 2: How To Farm Season Of The Plunder Deepsight Weapons – GameRant

In order to craft the new seasonal weapons in Destiny 2, players will need to gather Deepsight Frames. Here’s how to farm them.
With the arrival of the Witch Queen expansion in Destiny 2, players received the capability to craft weapons to their heart's desire. These craftable weapons allow players to specify which perks they'd like and allow them to fully customize the weapon to suit their playstyle/goals.

Each new season in Destiny 2 gives players a slew of new weapons to add to their arsenal, Season of the Plunder is no different, with the season dropping brand new Pirate-themed weapons with their own Origin trait.
Every weapon in Destiny 2 can drop with what is called a Deepsight frame. These Deepsight frames are indicated by their red outline around the weapon. A Deepsight frame weapon can allow a player to extract a weapon pattern from it, which is required for a player to craft said weapon. Each weapon generally requires the player to extract 5 weapon patterns, meaning players will have to find at least 5 Deepsight framed copies of that weapon.
A player can extract the weapon pattern from the Deepsight frame by either using the weapon to fill the bar and then heading to the weapon customization menu to extract it. Alternatively, the player can opt to extract the weapon pattern via dismantling the weapon itself.
All new seasonal weapons in Season of the Plunder can be crafted. Each weapon requires at least 5 weapon patterns, meaning players will need at least 5 Deepsight frame copies of the weapon to be able to craft it. These can be quite elusive due to their low drop rate and the large variety of weapons that players can get from completing seasonal activities can make it quite difficult to gain enough Deepsight frames to be able to craft one. So players looking to gain a crafted version for this season's weapons should aim for the highest possible chance of receiving a Deepsight frame.
Ketchcrash is one of Season of the Plunder's seasonal activities. Ketchcrash is a 6-man matchmade activity that has players invade another pirate ship for loot, glory and seasonal progression. Ketchcrash's Master variation is a more difficult version of the activity, the activity requires a higher power level meaning players will have to grind a bit in the season to make sure their power is up to scratch. Master Ketchcrash also introduces Champions within each encounter, so players will need to bring various seasonal mods to counter the new enemies. Alongside this, players will need to find their own fireteam for Master Ketchcrash, as there is no matchmaking for this level of the activity. Players who are struggling to find a group for this can try out the Destiny 2 LFG discord server to find other players looking for the same activity.

Completing a Master Ketchcrash instead rewards players 3 chests of loot instead of 1 like in regular Ketchcrash. This helps massively in farming those Deepsight frames as players will have more opportunities for the Red framed weapons to drop. Generally speaking, the amount of Champions slain within Master level activities increase the loot gained, it has yet to be confirmed if killing all Champions in Master Ketchcrash nets players better chances for Deepsight frames. However, it is advised that players take down all Champions if possible just to ensure this, they'll also gain some nice bonus loot for doing so.
Expedition is the other seasonal activity offered in Season of the Plunder. Unlike Ketchcrash, Expedition is a 3-man activity that is matchmade. There's only one version of Expedition, so players will not need to find other players to complete the activity with. However, Expedition grants far less loot than in comparison to a Master Ketchcrash, therefore it's not recommended to grind out Expeditions when looking to farm Deepsight frames during Season of the Plunder. However, they do provide some other benefits that may be useful to players, these being:
The other alternative to Master Ketchcrash for farming Deepsight frames in Season of the Plunder is through focusing Umbral Engrams on the Star Chart. Focusing weapons will require players to have certain upgrades on their Star Chart, as well as Legendary Shards, Umbral Energy and Umbral Engrams. This is generally not a recommended method of farming for Deepsight frames as the chance of receiving one when focusing is quite low.

Alongside this, focusing Umbral Engrams can be quite expensive resource-wise, and will require the player to farm for if they want to use this method. This method should only really be used if players are focusing on one particular weapon, and don't mind spending the resources to do so.
There are a handful of upgrades that can help out players in farming the elusive Deepsight frames. These can be unlocked through the Star Chart within the H.E.L.M. Unlocking these upgrades will require the player to trade a Repute for it, which can be gained through various seasonal challenges. Here is a list of the most important upgrades when farming Deepsight frame weapons:
Destiny 2 is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
