Void weapons pair greatly with Void 3.0 in Destiny 2’s PVE. Here’s which Void weapons every guardian needs to have in their vault.
The selection of elemental weapons in Destiny 2 keeps on growing with every season, and the same goes for the range of great Void weapons. Pairing well with the Void 3.0 subclass that was released originally with The Witch Queen's first season, Season of the Risen, they're also some of the best overall weapons in the game as of Season of the Seraph thanks to a few outliers.
From Exotic picks to Legendary weapons, PVE players who are eager to have a proper selection of solid Void weapons don't need to luck any further than this list of the best Void weapons in Destiny 2. While PVP considerations have been mostly ignored and some repeat archetypes have been omitted as well, this list will likely be expanded upon in the future as more weapons are released into the game with the upcoming Lightfall expansion.
Snorri is one of the Legendary world drops that players have been able to acquire since The Witch Queen was released. It's a Void fusion rifle and simple at first glance, but it has one of the best recoil patterns in the game which makes it particularly nice to use in PVP, as well as in PVE. Honorable mention would also be Null Composure, but since Snorri FR5 is more readily available, it deserves its spot on the list.
There are a few cool perks to look out for, such as Successful Warm-Up and Wellspring, which are nice for PVE. Surplus and Reservoir Burst are also some fan-favorite perks that players can receive as rolls on this fusion rifle. While fusion rifles aren't the best in PVE right now, it's possible they make a comeback some time in the future.
Le Monarque was a strong Exotic in PVP for the longest time but has since somewhat lost relevance and gained some in PVE. The Exotic Void bow was one of the Exotics that were reworked for Season of the Plunder and now has an intrinsic anti-Overload champion perk.
The community has shown that pairing Le Monarque with an additional anti-Overload bow mod also does extra damage to the champion, so next time Overload Bow is back on the menu, Le Monarque is an ideal choice. Le Monarque deals poison damage overtime to targets, which hinders their natural health regeneration (which is why it's so beastly in PVP, or used to be).
Auto rifles might soon be making a comeback, and if there's one auto rifle worth getting then it's the Gnawing Hunger, which will occasionally be sold by Xur on Friday through Monday. It's one of the nicest auto rifles in the game simply based on its feel and the lack of immense spread or recoil.
It has a small but nice perk pool, which means getting decent perks shouldn't be too hard, even if it is a rare weapon to get nowadays. Subsistence, Rampage, Demolitionist, and Swashbuckler are all very good options for PVE, which is likely where Gnawing Hunger will see most of its use anyway.
In terms of Void scout rifles, there are two major contenders that come to mind: Aisha's Embrace and Doom of Chelchis. Both are not easy ones to get, with Aisha's Embrace now out of the Trials of Osiris loot pool and Doom of Chelchis exclusive to the King's Fall raid. However, they are both incredible weapons with great perks, though Doom of Chelchis' perk pool is a bit more enticing.
Those who have the opportunity should try and get the Harrowed version of Doom of Chelchis from the Master King's Fall raid. It comes with both PVP and PVE-friendly perks, but for PVE Firefly or Explosive Payload is almost always a must in the first column. Make sure to get it Harrowed, as mentioned, or unlock five patterns and craft the perfect version.
When it comes to Void swords, there were once again two great contenders: The Other Half and Fallen Guillotine. Both are absolute must-have weapons for any PVE nerds out there, but The Other Half wins simply because of how much it has done for the Destiny 2 community in terms of movement and speedrunning.
Eager Edge is the one perk players need to be looking for when it comes to this weapon. When first switching to The Other Half and attacking using primary fire, Eager Edge launches players a decent distance away. This makes scaling jumping puzzles a breeze, even after the Eager Edge nerfs that Bungie pushed through during Season of the Plunder. To get this sword, players will need to unlock the treasure chest over at Xur's Treasure Hoard and farm it for The Other Half. It can now also be crafted, like the other Dares of Eternity weapons.
If there's one iconic Legendary weapon that defined the era of The Witch Queen expansion, then surely it's Funnelweb. This humble-looking SMG became quickly everyone's favorite meta primary weapon early in the Season of the Risen, with great synergy with Volatile Flow and Void 3.0. The great part is that it's still almost as good, and so beloved that even outside of the Void subclass people tend to run it.
It can be substituted to a degree with Unforgiven, the SMG from Duality, but Funnelweb is simply more accessible for most players and isn't gated behind paid content. It can be found in Legendary engrams. Players should look for Subsistence and Frenzy for the ideal perk combination.
Newly introduced in Season of the Seraph, this Void grenade launcher can be received from the Spire of the Watcher dungeon and has already become a favorite for many PVE players in Destiny 2. The main reason for this is how well it pairs with some Hunter and Warlock builds in particular, thanks to the Repulsor Brace and Adrenaline Junkie perks.
Wilderflight also comes with other great perks for those who are looking to use it for more general purposes, such as Auto-Loading Holster or Demolitionist and Vorpal and Frenzy. It has a small perk pool, which means the likelihood of getting a good combo is quite high.
On to another Exotic weapon, Collective Obligation is the raid Exotic from Vow of the Disciple and continues to be a weapon that is still somewhat slept on by most of the community. It saw significant buffs during Season of the Plunder, which has now turned it into a seriously great pick for any Void builds (but mostly Void Hunters).
Collective Obligation can store Void Leech, and when activated, it debuffs targets. It can now essentially take over Divinity's role as a weakening weapon, while also being a primary that deals serious damage and has good synergy with Void 3.0. Hunters in particular will love it when combined with the Gyrlfacon's Hauberk chest piece.
So what about raw DPS on the Void subclass? Taipan-4FR is undoubtedly the first pick that everyone favors. It only requires two patterns to be unlocked as a craftable weapon, and it's immensely powerful as a linear fusion rifle. Now, linear fusions will be nerfed come Lightfall, but those looking to have an easy time in Season of the Seraph's Grandmaster Nightfalls and raids should still rely on Taipan if they have a Void subclass and no Retrofit Escapade build.
Taipan-4FR's ideal perks include Firing Line and Triple Tap, but if players plan on playing solo, they'll need to replace Firing Line with a different perk like Field Prep.
Retrofit Escapade tops this list as probably the best Void weapon currently in the game. It pairs extremely well with the new Void Hunter as of Season of the Seraph, but it remains to be seen whether it will continue its reign throughout Lightfall.
Now, the key with this weapon is that it's only good when paired with the following perks: Target Lock and Fourth Time's the Charm. This is illustrated well in Plunderthabooty's guide into the DPS Void Hunter build, though it could technically be worked into the builds of other classes as well. So far, the damage numbers speak for themselves, so players looking for a completely different damage meta this season should try and get their hands on this seasonal machine gun.
