Four-time CWG medallist Seema Punia finishes fifth in the discus throw final with a throw of 55.92m. Her compatriot, Navjeet Dhillon manages only 53.51m for the seventh spot.
The gold medal was clinched by Nigeria's Chioma Onyekwere, who threw 61.70m, ahead of England's Jade Lally (58.42m) and another Nigerian Obiageri Amaechi (56.99).

CWG Day 5 India highlights: India added four medals on the fifth day of the Commonwealth Games with gold medals in lawn bowls and table tennis. It is India’s maiden medal in lawn bowls. In men’s table tennis event, India beat Singapore 3-1 to defend their title. Indian badminton mixed team claim silver medal after losing to Malaysia 3-1 in the gold medal match. Vikas Thakur added to the glory for lifters by clinching the silver medal. Later, India mixed badminton team take on Malaysia in the gold medal match. Earlier, in athletics, Murali Sreeshankar, Muhammed Anees Yahiya qualified for the Men’s Long Jump final. Also into the gold medal match are Manpreet Kaur (shot put), Advait Page and Kushagra Rawat (Swimming 150mm Freestyle). Two-time CWG medallist Punam Yadav faced disappointment. As did the women’s hockey team losing 1-3 to England.

Day 5 preview: Big day for India at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. They currently have nine medals with three gold but three more gold could be added today. Three Indian teams are in the final of their respective events.
First, it will be the women’s fours lawn bowls team. They defeated New Zealand in the semi-finals to secure a historic medal for India, a first in the event at CWG. They will face South Africa in the final. The Indian mixed badminton team will play Malaysia in the gold medal match. They defeated Singapore in the final.
The Indian men’s table tennis team will be up against Singapore in the final. They defeated Nigeria in the men’s semi-finals.
Commonwealth Games: India schedule, Results, Medals tally
The athletics action will also begin for India with Murali Sreeshankar and Muhammad Anees Yahiya taking part in long jump qualifying. Tejaswin Shankar will take part in high jump qualifying.
