Best Square Enix Games, According To IMDb – Screen Rant

Square Enix has released many different types of beloved games, across different subgenres. But what are their best titles, according to IMDb?
Founded in 2003, the Japanese video game conglomerate and developers at Square Enix have worked on many beloved gaming titles and franchises since their inception. Some of their most popular names include Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts.

Square Enix has contributed to many other game titles over the years, and they are a familiar name within the industry. But which games are the best? Players have rated their favorite Square Enix exclusive games on IMDb as they have been released.
As one of the several expansion packs for the Final Fantasy XIV series, Heavensward is the first for FF XIV: Reborn. As a part of the larger franchise, this game is one of the multiplayer online role-playing games.

Heavensward is set during the Dragonsong War, which has taken place for more than a millennium. In this expansion, new areas are explored, as well as new levels, which allow players to ramp up their efforts to stop the war and avoid persecution.
One of Square Enix’s recent collaborations, co-developed with h.a.n.d., is the game NEO: The World Ends With You. This is the second installment following The World Ends With You, which was originally released in 2007.
In this action role-playing game, players interact with a cast of characters in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. A competition called the “Reaper’s Game” takes place, and in order to survive, players use “psych” abilities in combat.
While the game was originally developed by Artdink and Netchubiyori, Triangle Strategy is one of the more recent Square Enix publications.

Triangle Strategy‘s storyline branches into four paths with corresponding game endings. This turn-based tactical RPG has been praised for its combat system and narrative style. The game’s alternative stories also allow for players to replay the game several times.
Shadowbringers is the third expansion pack for Final Fantasy XIVThis title, along with the other XIV expansions, has earned favorable reviews among regular Final Fantasy players.
The expansion takes place on the First, which is a parallel dimension in this fantasy universe. Players are tasked with restoring the land found in ruination. One notable aspect of the game that players have recognized is its accessibility to new players of the series.
Released in 2010, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep was created in collaboration with Disney Interactive Studios. It is the sixth title in the beloved Kingdom Hearts series.
The popularity and high praise for this title originate from its updated battle system, which is different from previous games in the series. Divided into three separate scenarios following three different characters, Birth By Sleep was a refreshing addition to the franchise.
Another Final Fantasy XIV expansion pack, titled Endwalker, was released last year. In it, players must brace for a new event in the universe, Final Days, an apocalyptic catastrophe as they travel to Sharlayan for help.

Receiving critical acclaim, Endwalker was a welcome addition to Final Fantasy XIV. This title features new adventures in the Final Fantasy world, and serves as a conclusion for this story arc, with new stories to come in the future.
Similar to the developers at Capcom, Square Enix has begun to remake older titles in their library, over time. The Final Fantasy VII Remake was released in 2020, the first in a set of new remakes for that game.
Featuring updated graphics, gameplay, and storylines, this game is set in the cyberpunk dystopian society of Midgar. It is another faithful remake of its original predecessor.
This game is an enhanced version of Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix, which is actually a remake of Kingdom Hearts II, including bonus content and updated battle scenarios.
While the order of release was seemingly confusing for new and unfamiliar players, this title quickly earned positive reviews. This combined title features two games, Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories.
Square Enix has a habit of releasing games that are enhanced or updated versions of previous titles, but Kingdom Hearts fans have continued to appreciate the new content and positive changes to the games.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5  + 2.5 Remix, released in 2017, is a high-definition remastering of the two games, rereleased together. With just a few missed glitches after its initial publication, players still gave high ratings to this title.
Perhaps the most highly rated Square Enix game, Kingdom Hearts II has remained a popular entry in the franchise. Following the concept of the original first game, this installment also features Disney characters in familiar settings in high-stakes scenarios.
The gameplay for this game features hack and slash button techniques to initiate attacks during battles. Receiving multiple awards and recognition amongst critics and players, Kingdom Hearts II remains a prevalent title in the video game industry.
