A&P Australia and Babcock Australasia announce new collaboration ... - Asia Pacific Defence ReporterA&P Australia (Atlantic & Peninsula Australia Pty Ltd) and Naval Ship Management (NSM, a Babcock Australasia company) have announced an agreement to collaborate on large ship sustainment opportunities on the east coast of Australia.
NSM is a leading Tier 1 maritime prime contractor in Australia, including responsibility for the sustainment of two of the largest vessels in the Royal Australian Navy, the Landing Helicopter Docks, HMAS Adelaide and HMAS Canberra. NSM is also a key industrial participant in the Warship Asset Management Alliance (WAMA), responsible for the capability and sustainment of the ANZAC Class frigates.
Best known for its ongoing In-Service Support and Sustainment Contract with HMAS Choules, A&P Australia specialises in engineering and design, ship repair, and platform lifecycle management. The company is currently delivering the largest refit programme to take place in Sydney in the last 15 years. Both companies will now explore opportunities to collaborate to deliver the best outcomes for the sustainment of the Royal Australian Navy’s warships.
David McGinley, Chief Executive, A&P Australia said: “A&P Australia has become renowned for delivering effective outcomes for the Royal Australian Navy through our role supporting HMAS Choules. A&P’s new collaboration with Babcock will enable both businesses to identify opportunities, which through joint working, will deliver greater value to Defence and underpin the seaworthiness of the Royal Australian naval fleet.”
Babcock Australasia’s Chief Executive Officer, David Ruff said: “We are proud of the contribution that Babcock and NSM make, together, to keep Royal Australian Navy vessels operationally available and effective – helping to keep Australia secure. Our plans for the future are centred on our commitment to investing in the key partnerships we have with our customers and industry partners like A&P Australia – strengthening the breadth of our support to maritime capability in Australia.”
