The 2022/23 NBL season starts on Saturday 1 October and you can watch the action on both free-to-air and subscription services.
All games are available at a cost via ESPN, but a selection of NBL games are accessible for free.
Finder has broken it down for you to see how each team fares in getting free-to-air coverage.
For the 2022/23 NBL season, games in the 2pm AEDT and 4pm AEDT time slots on Sundays are available on free-to-air.
These games will air on 10 Peach and 10 play, as well as Kayo Freebies.
But it varies as to which sides feature in this time slot, so some NBL teams get more free-to-air coverage than others.
As you can see, the free-to-air schedule isn’t spread evenly between NBL clubs.
The Sydney Kings get the most free-to-air coverage throughout the 2022/23 season, with 13 games available to watch at no cost.
Fans of South East Melbourne Phoenix and New Zealand Breakers should also be chuffed that they can catch 10 games for free during the season.
At the other end of the spectrum, the Cairns Taipans are the worst off, with only 4 games airing on free-to-air.
The Illawarra Hawks and Perth Wildcats are not much better, with only 5 games each airing for free.
All teams have the majority of their games available via subscription only, with the top side, Sydney Kings, only having 46% of their games on free-to-air.
If getting by on only a fraction of your team’s games per season isn’t acceptable to you, you can still view every game of the NBL season, but it will cost you.
The principal broadcast partner of the NBL is ESPN.
So that means it will show every game live, but that requires a subscription to Foxtel iQ, Foxtel Now, Kayo Sports or Fetch TV.
If you are yet to try Kayo, it offers 7-day free trial for new users.
After that, subscriptions start from $25 a month.
Stream Kayo Sports for 7 days FREE and no lock-in contract
Take Kayo Sports for a spin and stream over 50 sports live completely free for 7 days.
ESPN is included in Foxtel iQ subscriptions with the Sports HD pack, which costs $74 a month.
If you don’t want an iQ box and just want to stream Foxtel via the internet, you can with Foxtel Now.
Choosing this option will cost $54 a month.
New subscribers to Foxtel Now get a 10-day free trial.
10-day free trial of Foxtel Now
No installation and no lock-in contract. New customers only. Sign up now.
ESPN is also available on Fetch TV as part of the Vibe and Ultimate channel packs.
The Vibe pack costs $6 a month, while the Ultimate pack is $20 a month.
This will be on top of the cost of your Fetch box, which can range from $169 to $449.

Products marked as ‘Promoted’ or ‘Advertisement’ are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder’s decision to show a ‘promoted’ product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays ‘Go to site’ buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money here.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labelling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
Providing or obtaining an estimated insurance quote through us does not guarantee you can get the insurance. Acceptance by insurance companies is based on things like occupation, health and lifestyle. By providing you with the ability to apply for a credit card or loan, we are not guaranteeing that your application will be approved. Your application for credit products is subject to the Provider’s terms and conditions as well as their application and lending criteria.
