Iran will kick off their World Cup campaign in Group B on Monday, when they face England at the Khalifa International Stadium.
Team Melli, who are also pitted with Wales and the United States in the same group, have never progressed to the knockout stages of the World Cup.
They have won 2 games in the tournament, one of which came against the US back in 1998.
The Cheetahs warmed up for the global stage with a 1-0 friendly win over Nicaragua last week before going down to Tunisia 2-0 on Wednesday, just their third defeat in their last 22 contests.
England and Iran will be locking horns for the first time, with Team Melli aiming to secure their first win over a European opposition at the 9th attempt.
